How it works
Tell Ali what keeps you up in January
A few lines on the decision in front of you, how many hydronic-capable techs you employ, and roughly where your revenue comes from: installs, servicing, parts or emergency calls.
Get a written scope before anything starts
You'll see what the engagement covers, what figures to pull together and what it costs. Nothing begins until you've read it and agreed.
Work through your numbers with Ali
You come away with decisions in priority order, tied to your own job mix and province. Call, text or email; you'll talk to a senior strategist.
Services
-
Specialist positioning against generalist shops
Decide what makes a boiler shop worth calling over the furnace company down the road, and say it everywhere.
-
Service-agreement and maintenance revenue
Turn annual boiler servicing into recurring revenue that carries the company through July.
-
Parts and emergency demand strategy
Plan for the no-heat call and the obsolete-part hunt so they earn money instead of wrecking the schedule.
-
Technician depth and capacity planning
Work out how many hydronic-capable people you need, and what happens the week one of them leaves.
-
Provincial boiler demand mapping
See where boiler homes actually are, by province and fuel, before you spend on a new territory.
Running a boiler company in Canada means competing for a small slice of homes against shops that mostly sell furnaces and air conditioners. BoilerConsultant.ca exists for the owner who has chosen that slice deliberately and wants a plan for owning it: who to target, what to charge for servicing, how to handle the 6 a.m. no-heat call, and how many skilled people it takes to keep promises in February. Ali Sedighi, MBA, leads the work personally.
Why boiler companies need their own strategy
The short answer: the market is smaller, more technical and more loyal than general HVAC. According to Statistics Canada's Households and the Environment Survey table, about 7% of Canadian households reported a hot-water or steam boiler as their primary heating system in 2023, against 46% with a forced-air furnace. That is a thin market by headcount, but those homeowners can't use just anyone.
A boiler owner who calls a furnace shop often gets a technician who has seen a handful of mod-con boilers, doesn't carry the right parts and quotes a replacement to avoid a diagnosis. That gap is the opening for a specialist. It only pays, though, if the specialist is set up for it:
- prices that reflect the skill involved, not the furnace company's rates
- a maintenance program that keeps customers coming back every year
- parts and emergency processes that don't collapse on the first cold snap
- enough trained people that one resignation doesn't halt the business
Each of those is a business decision, and that's where we work. The services page explains each area in detail.
What we help boiler owners decide
Most engagements centre on one or two of five questions:
- Positioning against generalists: what you can honestly claim that a full-line HVAC shop can't, and how to make it obvious on your website, trucks and quotes.
- Maintenance revenue: turning annual servicing of boilers, combis and indirect tanks into a predictable base of recurring work.
- Parts and emergency demand: pricing after-hours calls, stocking for the brands you see most, and treating parts enquiries as a lead source.
- Technician depth: how many hydronic-capable people your plan really needs, and how to build that bench without poaching wars.
- Provincial demand mapping: where boiler homes concentrate by province and fuel, so expansion follows the data.
Proof from boiler projects Ali built
The evidence here comes from boiler work, not general HVAC. CombiBoiler.ca reached 300% ROI, produces 300+ monthly leads and holds 500+ page-1 rankings for combi-boiler keywords. GasBoilers.ca was built as a gas-boiler division for CANRO Heat and serves 26+ BC communities, with 5.0★ from 76+ Google reviews. BoilerPart.ca runs 2,000+ programmatic pages and grew organic traffic 180%.
Those three cover the three revenue streams a boiler company lives on: replacements, service, and parts. The results page explains what each one teaches an owner and what doesn't transfer to a different market.
Where boiler demand sits in Canada
Boiler homes aren't spread evenly. The same Statistics Canada table puts the 2023 share at roughly 16% of households in Nova Scotia and in Prince Edward Island, 10% in Saskatchewan and 9% in British Columbia, but only about 4% in Quebec. The fuel behind those boilers also changes by region: mostly natural gas in BC and the Prairies, largely electric in Quebec, and mostly oil in the Atlantic provinces that reported it.
That matters more than most owners realise. A gas-boiler specialist in the Maritimes is fighting heat-pump conversion programs, while one in Saskatoon can point customers to a utility rebate for high-efficiency boilers. The areas we cover page goes province by province.
Who leads the work
Ali Sedighi holds an MBA in Technology Management and has 17+ years of marketing and growth experience, starting in 2007 when he founded ONE.ir, a full-service digital marketing agency. He has built 150+ live HVAC websites, and many of them are boiler businesses: combi specialists, gas-boiler divisions, maintenance and emergency sites, and a parts catalogue.
BoilerConsultant.ca is Canadian, headquartered in Vancouver, British Columbia, and part of the Sedighi.ca and SAZ.ca group of companies. Marketing execution, when an owner wants it, runs through the group's HVAC.Agency team. More background is on the about page.
What we are not
We advise on the business. We don't install, repair, service or inspect anything, and we never send anyone to a mechanical room. This is business and marketing consulting, not engineering, mechanical design, inspection or code-compliance services. If your question is really about a pressure-vessel permit, venting rules or a gas licence, we'll tell you so and point you to your provincial safety authority.
How to start
Send Ali a short note describing the decision you're weighing. Include your province, your rough split between installs and service, and how many techs can work on a boiler without supervision. If a strategy engagement isn't the right fit, he'll say so. You can see what's included in the pricing section, read common questions on the FAQ page, or go straight to the contact page. Call, text or email; whichever suits your day.

Frequently asked questions
What is BoilerConsultant.ca?
BoilerConsultant.ca is a strategy consulting service for owners of boiler, hydronic and combi-boiler companies in Canada. The service is run out of Vancouver by Ali Sedighi, MBA, and sits within the Sedighi.ca and SAZ.ca group.
Do you install, service or inspect boilers?
No. We are not a contractor and never touch equipment. This is business and marketing consulting, not engineering, mechanical design, inspection or code-compliance services.
Why a consultant just for boiler companies?
Because the economics differ from furnace and air-conditioning work. Fewer homes have boilers, jobs are more technical, parts are harder to find and the people who can do the work are scarce. Generic HVAC advice tends to miss all four.
What does it cost?
Strategy engagements are quoted in writing once the scope is clear. If you also want marketing carried out, the HVAC.Agency plans start at $2,998 a month, plus GST/HST for your province. The pricing page has the details.
Can you promise more leads or revenue?
No, and you should be wary of anyone who does. We can show you what happened on boiler projects Ali built and help you make sharper decisions; the outcome depends on your market and how the plan is carried out.
Do you work outside BC?
Yes. Engagements run in person or by video call, phone, text, email and shared documents with owners in all 10 provinces and 3 territories.
